ACCESS FM Video

I've written about ACCESS FM before here and here. We use this a lot for writing the specifications for our success criteria in both Design and for the Personal Project. It's super useful and to me the best tool out there. However, there are two problems I find with it:
  • Environment - Often this focusses on if the product is environmentally friendly, but it should also focus on the environment the product will be used in. For example, if you are designing furniture to use outdoors, somewhere rainy...how will you customise your product? If you are making a video game, which can be played on a phone, what is the standard screen sizes/dimensions of phones?
  • Size - Often students thing about this as length, width and height. They also for some reason think digital products have no size, (including length, width and height!) I try to encourage my students to think about size, duration and time. This could be the file size. It could be how long a video game takes to complete, or how many levels are in the game. It could be the length of time for an animation. It could be how many times you should be able to use a product, how long it will last or if there is a 'consume by date'.
I was looking online for an ACCESS FM video to use and didn't come across any which didn't have those two problems. However, I found this one and loved the look of it! It was made using Biteable.com. I hadn't heard of this before, but decided to sign up and try to make my own video. Biteable is super easy to use and has lots of lovely stock footage and animations to use. I also loved the music selection (the one I chose reminded me of Scott Pilgrim).
Here's a direct link to my video.
